The author is best at ‘suspense’. There’s so much of it, like when Snib is captured when he’s looking for Meg in Chapter 5 and 6.
I loved this book as it’s never, ever boring. It reminded me of The Secret Seven and The Famous Five.

I loved how Snib is so fond of his dog. I think a lot of kid readers will understand how he feels when he thinks his dog’s been taken. But the best part of the book is how there’s always a lot happening in every chapter. It’s never slow or anything. I also liked the happy ending but with the cliffhanger of not knowing who the ‘Boss’ is.

I loved the story itself. It feels like an Enid Blyton book as she often had a dog in her books – like Timmy in The Famous Five. I think the author did a fab job of making the Booth family (teacher, butcher, the kids) very unlikeable.
